NTT Data Secures Land in Seven Global Markets for Nearly 1GW of Data Center Development

NTT Data has acquired land in seven key global markets over the past six months, marking a significant step in its plan to build nearly 1 gigawatt of additional data center capacity. The acquisitions span North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, reinforcing the company’s position as a major player in digital infrastructure.
In North America, the company is expanding in both Oregon and Arizona. In Hillsboro, Oregon, NTT Data has secured land for a 216-megawatt IT capacity expansion, which will increase its total capacity in the area to 354 megawatts. In Phoenix, Arizona, the company acquired 174 acres in Mesa to develop a large-scale data center campus. This new development is expected to include seven facilities totaling 324 megawatts, with the first center scheduled to go live in fiscal year 2028. Combined with its existing 102-acre, 240-megawatt campus in the region, NTT Data’s total capacity in Arizona will approach 600 megawatts.

In Europe, NTT Data has entered the Milan market for the first time with the purchase of 53 acres, where it plans to build a 128-megawatt data center. In Frankfurt, Germany, where it already operates several facilities, the company is preparing to develop its fifth data center and add 80 megawatts of capacity. In the United Kingdom, NTT has acquired 26.3 acres for a new data center site in London, which will be the company’s eighth in that market. Additionally, it has secured the underlying freehold at its existing London sites, further strengthening its operational control.
In the Asia-Pacific region, the focus is on Japan. NTT Data has acquired 32 acres in Tochigi, a new market for the company, located near Tokyo. Plans for the site include two large-scale data centers with a combined capacity of approximately 100 megawatts. In Osaka, where the company already has a presence, it has secured an additional eight acres and is planning to build two new data centers totaling 36 megawatts. This will bring NTT Data’s total capacity in Osaka to about 70 megawatts across three facilities.

Doug Adams, CEO and president of NTT DATA Global data centers, emphasized that these acquisitions are aligned with the company’s long-term vision for supporting enterprises in an AI-driven economy. “By bringing new capacity to high-growth regions, we’re building the foundation enterprises need to innovate, scale, and lead confidently,” Adams said. He added that the strategy is about more than just capacity, highlighting NTT’s commitment to “shaping the future of digital infrastructure on a global scale.”
These land purchases come on the heels of NTT Data’s January 2025 pledge to invest over $10 billion in its data center business through 2027. Other recently announced projects include a 290-megawatt data center in Johor, Malaysia, and a 400-megawatt AI-focused facility in Hyderabad, India.
Earlier this month, NTT also announced its intention to take NTT Data private in a ¥2.37 trillion (approximately $16.4 billion) deal, signaling strong support from its parent company and a deepening commitment to long-term infrastructure investment.
